The secret to this tool's flexibility is ADAPTERS. These low-cost adapters simply plug in to the end of the Universal Zebra's harness, and adapt the tool to virtually all ECM motors used in the HVAC-R Industry.
Diagnosing which section of an ECM motor that has a problem has never been easier.
The SideWinder is easy to use! Using the tool's first test, by rotating the motor shaft, causes the motor to generate a back-EMF voltage, which is displayed by the phase LEDs. Comparing the brightness of these LEDs shows how the three phases are working. The second test checks for any shorts or grounds between any of the windings and motor frame. The 3 LEDs display any faults.
Adapter A is used with the UZ-1 Universal Zebra tool to troubleshoot GE, Regal-Beloit, and GENTEQ Series 2.0 and 2.3 ECM motors.
Adapter B is used with the UZ-1 Universal Zebra Tool to troubleshoot Regal-Beloit, and GENTEQ Series 3.0 ECM Motors
Adapter C is used with the UZ-1 Universal Zebra tool to troubleshoot these ECM motors:
- GE, Regal-Beloit, and GENTEQ X-13 Series Motors
- GE, Regal-Beloit, and GENTEQ Evergreen 'AH' (but NOT 'IM') Series ECM motors
- Other Manufacture "X-Motors"
Adapter E is used with the UZ-1 Universal Zebra tool to troubleshoot 142 Series ECM Motors.
Adapter F is used with the UZ-1 Universal Zebra tool to troubleshoot Evergreen "IM" Series Motors (but not Evergreen "AH").
Adapter G is used with the UZ-1 Universal Zebra Tool to troubleshoot Azure Digi-Motors For Models 10860/61 only.
Motor Power Plug & Harness #1 enables you to bench/shop test GENTEQ ECM Series 2.0, 2.3, 2.5 & 3.0.
Motor Power Plug & Harness #2 enables you to bench/shop test GE, Regal-Beloit, and GENTEQ X-13 Motors, Evergreen "AH" Motors, and Other Manufacturer's "X-Motors."

The accessory case is intended to store the components of your Universal Zebra System. It protects your investment in adapters, motor power plugs with harnesses, and other accessories from loss or damage. It looks just like a larger version of the UZ-1's case, and also includes a carry handle. It is a rugged, latched case.
This product can be used in two different ways:
- As a 36" extension of the UZ-1's main harness, making it a little easier to access those hard-to-reach motors, or
- As a replacement for the UZ-1's main harness, in case the original one was damaged or cut by a blower wheel, etc.
